BIM can have a big impact at this stage of a project before we even set foot on site.<\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Being able to see options and their budgetary impacts side by side gives an owner an instant idea of what they are (or aren\u2019t) paying for. We call these Options Analyses.<\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Because we typically receive a number of models from our design partners, we\u2019ll often extract quantities from these models to use as a back check for subcontractor quotes and initial budget pricing.<\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Many programs do this well but the programs we employ the most is Solibri Model Checker, Autodesk Revit, and Autodesk Navisworks.<\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Subcontractor procurement depends on a thorough understanding of the scope, particularly in an existing space. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.leica-geosystems.us\/en\/HDS-Laser-Scanners-SW_5570.htm\" target=\"_blank\">HDS laser scanning<\/a> is a huge help in these situations. A point cloud combined with a model of the new construction elements (MEP, structure, etc.) gives us a very clear idea of what needs to be demolished and installed.
