class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Edwards Concrete Co. first met Scott Goodwin, the construction manager of Micro Lumen, at the Facilities Trade Show in Tampa, Fla. He was managing the construction of a new Pharmaceuticals Manufacturing Headquarters and wanted a highly reflective floor. He originally was going to put in a terrazzo floor. But after he came saw Edwards Concrete pour a 20&#215;20-foot concrete sample with an exposed aggregate polish finished, he was delighted with the outcome.<\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Edwards Concrete worked closely with the general contractor, Ed Taylor Construction South Inc., on the 65,000-square-foot building. A 13-person crew threw the exposed aggregate material into 450 cubic yards of concrete for 13 hours. The exposed aggregate material consisted of 13,000 pounds of Mother of Pearl shells, mirror, blue glass, and Georgia marble, purchased from Klein &#038; Co.<\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The concrete was laser screeded to a specified flatness of FF50.<\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This project also was a tilt wall project, which meant that Edwards Concrete had to patch 25,000 square feet of concrete. The contractor used RapidSet Cement ALL to hand patch the 4500 tilt-wall anchor holes, and then used a Terrco terrazzo machine to expose the aggregate. Then the floor was honed and polished using HTC 800 machines withSASE diamonds to a 1500-grit sheen using. Prosoco LS Guard was applied to the floor, which was then burnished with a propane burnishing machine using microfiber pads.<\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Finally a BOT3000 slip-testing machine was used to confirm the floors&#8217; slip resistance, which met the required minimum COF of 0.5.
