{"id":50294,"date":"2016-07-26T20:46:23","date_gmt":"2016-07-26T20:46:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/zonda-develop.go-vip.net\/concrete-construction\/article\/dot-considers-additional-roundabouts_c"},"modified":"2016-07-26T20:46:23","modified_gmt":"2016-07-26T20:46:23","slug":"dot-considers-additional-roundabouts_c","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/zonda-develop.go-vip.net\/concrete-construction\/projects\/infrastructure\/dot-considers-additional-roundabouts_c\/","title":{"rendered":"DOT Considers Additional Roundabouts"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Gresham, Smith and Partners has been chosen by the Georgia DOT to complete preliminary plans for a project on SR 136 in Pickens County.<\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The project proposes multi-point improvements at various locations along SR 136, as well as plans to enlarge the shoulders throughout the corridor to accommodate bicyclists.<\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Planned improvements include replacing a T-intersection with a roundabout at the SR 136 Connector, upgrades to the intersections of SR 136 with Antioch Church Road and Priest Circle, and a new roundabout intersection with SR 136 and Ellijay Road to improve the route\u2019s horizontal geometry. GS&#038;P will also be responsible for drainage improvements, right-of-way plans, public involvement and completion of NEPA documentation.<\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">GS&#038;P has worked with GDOT on several projects that include <a href=\"http:\/\/www.greshamsmith.com\/projects\/gdot-roundabout-feasibility-studies\">roundabout feasibility studies<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.greshamsmith.com\/news\/projects\/gs-amp-p-to-perform-road-safety-audits-for-georgia\">road safety audits<\/a> for six major corridors in the state of Georgia, the development of the Georgia SR 15 Bypass, and the new interchange at Gravel Springs Road and 1-85 in Georgia.<\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cOur work with the agency has been extensive and we look forward to another opportunity to collaborate with their team,\u201d says Senior Transportation Engineer Jeremy Busby, PE. \u201cThese improvements are anticipated to improve safety for the many users of this corridor.\u201d<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Gresham, Smith and Partners has been chosen by the Georgia DOT to complete preliminary plans for a project on SR 136 in Pickens County.
