Washington University, a mid-sized university in St. Louis, Mo., is building a new six-story parking garage to ease parking for its 13,300 students and 3000 staff members. Ceco Concrete Construction, the nation’s largest formwork subcontractor, has been engaged for the concrete work using approximately 3000 square feet of Doka’s new Frami formwork system. The contract included radius ramp walls, different sized columns, and shear walls with columns and foundation walls. Since the wall heights varied from 6 to 15 feet and the columns were up to 18 feet high, the new Frami system in inches and feet offered a good solution.<\/p>

Frami is a lightweight clamp system with a logical system grid for fast, economical forming of foundations and small areas. The system can be used for walls, columns, grade beams, and footings and allows for hand set or ganged application. Walls up to 9 feet can be formed with one panel and poured full liquid head with only two ties per panel. Quick panel connections are assured with only three lightweight Frami clamps needed for each 9-foot vertical joint, each requiring just a single hammer blow to join and align the panels.<\/p>
