Dancer Concrete Design recently helped Celeste Sexton, owner of Fusion Yoga, achieve the look she envisioned for her new yoga studio and boutique in southwest Fort Wayne, Ind. With seven yoga instructors and classes offered every day of the week, Fusion Yoga has something for everyone. There is also a boutique, Cuzen Clothing, in the front of the building where customers can buy yoga apparel and accessories before their classes.
Fusion Yoga’s style is Swedish/modern, and Sexton was looking for a clean and durable flooring system to complete the vibe she was anticipating. The contractor installed polished concrete floors in the boutique area in front and in the hallway leading to the yoga studios. The space was originally carpeted, so the team started by removing glue and patching some areas.
Then, the polishing began. Exposed aggregate ranged from Class B to Class C exposure (small to medium), leaving a great textured look to the floor. After several passes, the space was complete with a 400-grit satin finish. To save the integrity of the original structure, natural concrete coloring was preferred instead of a dye or stain.
